Our military was designed for very simple purpose(s) – Homeland Security and to protect our interests.
Instead of focusing on real threats and educating/training USN sailors on more germaine topics, Adm. Gilday constructed a required list of books that encourage “…Navy’s sailors to achieve the same level of “self-reflection.”
This “self reflection” is courtesy of the book, Ibram X. Kendi’s “How to Be an Antiracist”. You may be asking yourself, “how does this pertain to keep our country safe?” Guess what, it doesn’t. Adm. Gilday put this book/novel (because let’s face it, social media aka Facebook hasn’t fact checked it so we really don’t know if this is true) because:
“it evokes the author’s own personal journey in understanding barriers to true inclusion, the deep nuances of racism and racial inequalities.”
Yet again, how does THIS pertain to the main goal of the USN or the military as a whole? Doesn’t it cause even more of a divisiveness? Does this REALLY need to be required reading?
