Coming Soon For The Unvaccinated: A $50 Monthly Paycheck Deduction From Your Employer

The lib rag Forbes just posted a doozy…

  • Fear porn tactics just weren’t enough;
  • Social media posts from celebritards weren’t enough;
  • Free gift with purchase and lotteries weren’t enough; and
  • Mandates just weren’t enough.

So now in a time of inflation and labor shortages a new vile pronged attack: payroll deductions.

“Aside from a public health reason to encourage vaccination and keep workers and their families healthy, there is also a financial reason. Covid-19 can lead to serious illness and an expensive hospital stay that costs the worker and company-paid insurance, triggering premium increases as well.”

An essay in last week’s New York Timesoutlined several examples of how Covid-19 can lead to higher costs and health insurance premiums from the unvaccinated. “Getting hospitalized with Covid-19 in the United States typically generates huge bills,” Dr. Elisabeth Rosenthal and Stanford University’s Glenn Kramon wrote, citing examples that included “a $104,000 bill for a 14-day hospitalization in Miami for an uninsured person.”

Hmmm…well isn’t THAT special…

The High Cost of Obesity

“…Covid-19 can lead to serious illness and an expensive hospital stay that costs the worker and company-paid insurance…” Guess what else CAN…obesity.

Obesity-related medical care costs in the United States, in 2008 dollars, were an estimated $147 billion. Annual nationwide productivity costs of obesity-related absenteeism range between $3.38 billion ($79 per obese individual) and $6.38 billion ($132 per individual with obesity).” CDC Mar 22, 2021

“…Covid-19 can lead to higher costs and health insurance premiums from the unvaccinated…” Guess what again…bingo, so does obesity.

Obesity also has externalities associated with it—namely, mortality and health insurance costs. Because medical costs are higher for the obese and premiums do not depend on weight, lighter people in the same pool pay for the food/exercise decisions of the obese.” USDA

The US adult obesity rate stands now at over 42% and climbing. With almost half the population obese they affect health care costs and premiums more directly versus the approximately 10% of US citizens whom contracted COVID-19.

So why not the public outcry? Shouldn’t this too be seen as a crisis?! Why aren’t employers taking payroll deductions from their body confident employees?

The High Cost of Diabetes

Straight from the Horse’s Mouth aka the CDC:

Diabetes is the most expensive chronic condition in our nation.

  • $1 out of every $4 in US health care costs is spent on caring for people with diabetes.
  • $237 billion is spent each year on direct medical costs and another $90 billion on reduced productivity.
  • The total economic cost of diabetes rose 60% from 2007 to 2017.
  • 61% of diabetes costs are for people 65 years or older, which is mainly paid by Medicare.
  • 48% to 64% of lifetime medical costs for a person with diabetes are for complications related to diabetes, such as heart disease and stroke.

If you’re wondering, over 100 adults in the United States have diabetes. That’s about 30% of our population…So I’ll ask again, So why not the public outcry? Shouldn’t this too be seen as a crisis?! Why aren’t employers taking payroll deductions from their diabetic employees?

Well guess what, so can obesity and diabetes. Health risks stemming from both conditions include:

  • Heart disease;
  • High blood pressure;
  • Stroke;
  • Cancers;
  • Arthritis;
  • Kidney disease;
  • Nerve damage; and
  • Blindness

All of the above conditions are long term, destructive and costly. With 46% of the population deemed obese and 30% diabetic, these have more of a strain on health care, the insurance costs and long term effects.

And yes, I’ll ask again…So why not the public outcry? Shouldn’t this too be seen as a crisis?! Why aren’t employers taking payroll deductions from their body confident and or diabetic employees? Shouldn’t employers do a mandate for exercise and a healthy diet?

I’m not fat shaming. I understand that diabetes can be genetic. My point is these two health conditions affect a greater number of our population- more so than what COVID-19 can ever do and with greater long term health and cost effects.
